Figures Decoratives and Color
I've been thinking about borders lately. I would like to do more of them.

Also, I've been toying with the idea of opening an Etsy shop with little prints of sketches and such. This has led me to more experiments in digital color with my sketches.

(original sketch here)
What do you think? Let me know in the comments section.
Is an Etsy store a good idea or just a time sink? Do you like the color or would you rather have the simplicity of the black and white line?

Long Awaited
Thanks to everyone who watches my blog and sits through all of my practice work and sketches waiting to see illustrations. I know, it's been a while, but I have a bunch of new images to show you! Images which I will divulge over several posts. (We can't have too much fun all at once)
So here are two creature illustrations, painted for an upcoming table top role playing game. Both are painted in oil and finished with a few color tweaks in photoshop.

Pen and Ink
As I mentioned before I had been looking at some Charles Dana Gibson drawings recently and they inspired me to take out my dip pen and ink well. I managed to keep from spilling my ink well and creating any kind of catastrophic mess at the coffee shop (as I was a little nervous about) and here are the resulting drawings...

Charles Dana Gibson
I've been looking at my Charles Dana Gibson book lately for some inspiration. Taking it out with me sketching one night, I sat down and drew this first sketch. Then, I sat back and looked at the book for a while with a cup of tea.
When I had finished looking at the book, the guy I had just drawn was still there so I drew him again, this time allowing aspects of Gibson's style to influence me. It's nice to try new things and it's interesting to see the two side by side. Gibson also inspired me to take out my old dip pen and do some drawing in ink, that's coming up in future posts.

and here's another in my regular style.
